Day 337: One Down . . .

hundreds and hundreds to go? After spending most of my holiday break working on it, I have finally finished my first job application. Well, actually, I started writing my job letter back in September because I was told that even though the letter is only two pages long, it can be as stressful as the dissertation to write. Whoever said that was only slightly exaggerating. I'm actually going to have the letter work-shopped again next month, so I can't even say honestly that it's done. I've also been working on my CV for years. So maybe I can say that editing these two documents took up most of my break. At any rate, this application package is nearly ready to send off to Peninsula College in Washington State. I've got to give it one more proofreading, however, because that's just the way I am.

I'm assuming that after completing this application the others won't take as long since the letter and CV are done. I'll mostly be applying for positions in Washington, Oregon, and California as Tom and I would like to stay on the West Coast. Although I do have fantasies of getting a job in New York City and living some fabulous metropolitan life (despite the dreadful winter weather). When I told this dream to Tom, he said it sounded like a big move. I pointed out that he had moved from Australia to Japan, from Japan to England, and from England to America, all moves which are arguably much bigger. Though I suppose when he did all those moves, he didn't have to worry about bringing along a three-foot tall, entirely pink fairy.
