I wanted to take a picture of LB in her other new outfit (also purchased during my retail therapy last Thursday), but she just looks so disheveled and forlorn here with her little box of raisins, her sad slouch, and the abandoned doll in the background. The picture below is not much better. . .
It's an adorable little set. I love the deer. Of course, it was dirty five minutes after she put it on.
The reason for getting dressed up today was that she had her 18-month check-up with her pediatrician, Dr. Roopa. At the appointment, we found out that LB now weighs 28 lbs and 2 oz and is 2' 9" tall. She's so big! In fact, the nurse didn't put her onto the baby scale to weigh her but just had her walk onto the normal scale. Does that mean she's officially not a baby anymore?During her appointment, she was snacking on her raisins, and she made the sign for "pain" a couple of times. Of course, I told Dr. Roopa what she was doing and that Tom and I could not figure out what exactly was hurting her. Wise Dr. Roopa immediately said that it was probably an ear infection and that it was bugging her when she opened her mouth. Dr. Roopa looked into LB's ear and, yep, she has an ear infection. Dr. Roopa, who isn't big on giving out the medication, didn't prescribe any antibiotics, but instead said we could give her a little Tylenol if she seemed to be uncomfortable. She said it should be cleared up in about 7-10 days.
I do have to do a little bragging on LB today because Dr. Roopa was so impressed with LB's ability to sign "pain." She said LB is very mature for her age and that it is wonderful that she can articulate something like "pain" to us. She even said that she was proud of her clever little patient and said that we should be very proud of her, too. Of course, Tom and I very proud of Miss LB. We're proud of everything she does, even when she's sitting on the couch and cracking up at her own farts.
Since Dr. Roopa's office is very near our favorite Indian restaurant, after LB's appointment we popped into Punjab Palace to order some take-out. And, next door to the restaurant is a Toys 'R Us, so while we were waiting for our food, I stopped in to see if there were any big yellow Tonka trucks . . .
When we arrived home, she played a game on kneebouncers.com
and then read her new book while she waited for her dinner. Every time we visit her office, Dr. Roopa gives LB a little book. Very cool.
Along with her soup, she also had some steamed carrot slices and the complimentary papadums from the Indian place. She was even dipping the papadum in the soup broth. Mmmm. That's some good eats!
poor bubba does look miserable! big kisses to the little munchkin. i love the fact the book is upside down ;)
