Day 233: Udon

Another post on food already!

Today, I babysat Jake for Crystal, and in return she cooked me this fab lunch of sanuki udon (which she explained is a higher quality udon noodle) with trimmings. Udon is one of my favorite Japanese dishes so I happily gobbled down every last drop of my soup and ate up lots of the homemade garnishes: cucumber slices with soy sauce and sesame seeds . . .
and bean sprouts with corn and spinach. Yum! A perfect fall dish (except today was in the 90s).
But there was no need for Crystal to make me such nice meal because Jakey is a real sweetie and so easy to watch. He didn't cry once while I was watching him (which was good because LB was napping). He mostly toddled around looking at toys and trying to get trash out of the bin. He even helped me in the garden, watering the avocado tree and smelling the roses.
And here's my little sugar plum--no she didn't get to indulge in any chocolate cake (her mother would not approve), but she is helping to show off the yummy dessert for her Uncle John. My little brother returned from his vacation in Turkey today, and to welcome him home G bought this chocolate cake. Unfortunately, for John the cake is in So Cal and he's in Washington, so . . . um . . . welcome home, Bro! Good to have you back. Put some pictures on Facebook.

  1. Yum...I want some udon and chocolate cake! The sprinkles on the cake match LB's outfit!
