Right in the middle of her forehead;
When she was good, she was very, very good,
And when she was bad she was horrid.
I was reminded of this nursery rhyme this evening when LB threw another little tanty. The reason for this one? Mama and Grandma wouldn't let her eat toothpaste. Fortunately, this all went down after her bath, and so, although, she cried and fussed and squirmed and wrestled while we got her into her pajamas, after we turned off her bedroom light, put on her lullabies, gave her a sippy cup of milk, and let her cuddle up to Mama, she quickly calmed down and was ready for bed.
We did, however, snap this little mid-tanty shot. She's angrily trying to climb into her crib. Maybe she's so mad at us, she's going to put herself to bed?
She's a stubborn, determined little thing when she sets her mind on something. Even Pam has commented that she seems to have a "stubborn streak." She no doubt inherited that from her Great Grammie Mary, who has a legendary stubbornness, and her Auntie Heidi, whom my family used to call the Boss Lady when she was a girl. Tom says she probably got a bit from her Auntie Em as well. I'm sure we are just at the start of many, many battles of will between Baby and Mama and Papa.
Oh poor you Helen, so many stubborn genes in LB. Actually mum says I was a really sweet kid, a mind of my own but really sweet, it was much older when i became foul. Sophie is a shocker too I still have Tom's words ringing in my head from your trip this year "what happened? last year she was so cute"...welcome to the toddler years. Last 2 mornings Sophie has a had about a 20 minute tanty before she even gets out of the cot!! I'm can't think what the world or I have got so wrong before she even gets out of bed!!! I just have to laugh, it's the only way to cope really.
ReplyDeletelol! I'm sure Tom probably remembers himself as the most angelic and well-behaved of all the Fordham children!
ReplyDeleteA 20 minute tanty before even starting the day!? Oh, no! I'm really impressed by how long these little fits can go on for. LB was mad at me for an hour the other day, but her attention span for anything else seems to be about five seconds! Yes, we have definitely entered the toddler years!
