Day Sixty-Eight: Little Miss Independent

Here's LB enjoying her post-Gymboree apple juice. Today was "Ramp" day, and the gym was arranged so that there were various ramps for the wee people to crawl up and down or roll down or throw balls down. LB's favorite was this sort of "bridge" ramp that ran above the rest of the gym. When she stood up on it, she could just see over the little wall, and from there she had a nice view of what all the other babies were up to. She definitely thought she was queen of the world.

After the class, the instructor, Karla, said that Lilybeth already seems very independent. She was certainly into doing her own thing again today. During the "dance time" when the parents carry their babies around in a circle, singing, and swaying them as if they're dancing, Lilybeth fussed and squirmed and kicked at me until I set her down in the middle of the circle where she danced on her own to everyone's singing (she dances now by sort of rocking back and forth and bobbing her head.)

Later in the class, we played with the rainbow parachute, which the parents held up over the the little ones and raised and lowered while the babies watched the colors above them. Except for LB of course, who used the cover of the parachute to plan her escape. Every time the parachute was raised and I could see what was going on underneath it, I saw that LB had crawled further and further away from me until she was on the other side of the mat and had to be retrieved. She gave out plenty of protest as I was carrying her back to join the rest of the group.

But overall she had a good time, except that Jaylene (whom I must say is a very fashionable baby. She was wearing little baby skinny jeans today!) was back and made a couple of strategic, yet failed attempts to get at LB's hair.

I'm also just going to include this picture of some ikura sushi that I enjoyed at dinner tonight. I have to include it because my husband was laughing at me for dragging the camera and its case along to dinner (we have a Canon Rebel XS so it doesn't exactly fit into my purse.) I've been trying to take the camera out and about with me more because I'm tired of only having pictures of things from around the house.
