Day Seventy-Eight: Multitasking

Our usual morning routine is that Tom gets up with Lilybeth at about 6, gives her breakfast and plays with her while I work. I take over at around 9, give her a bath, take her to the park, and then put her down for her nap, and Tom gets ready for work and goes.

This morning, however, Papa was not feeling himself, so he had a little sleep in while I gave LB breakfast. I thought I would be clever and try to edit my fellowship application while she munched on her banana slices, but it did not work out so well. First, as soon as I set a couple of slices on the tray, her little hands would snatch them up, shove them in her mouth, and she would be making the sign for more in about 2 seconds. So maybe I could get half of a sentence read in that time. I was also reading the application out loud so she would not feel like I was ignoring her. She thought this was funny, and she was just too damn cute gobbling down the bananas, putting her hands together for "more," and laughing at me. So I just gave up the editing altogether, and LB got her sticky hands all over my draft.
