Tom and I opened our eyes today to a rainy sky and had no desire whatsoever to get out of bed, especially as I had a headache and he had a sore throat. LB mercifully stayed in her bed until after 6 and then had a cuddle and a nurse in our bed until nearly 7:30, so at least we got a late start to the day.
Needless to say, even after two cups of coffee, I still did not feel like working. Usually when I feel this way, I try to force myself to slug away at the chapter, even if it doesn't lead to any good results, but today I thought I'd try to do a different but related task. Maybe I wouldn't feel like I had just wasted two hours if I worked on something I could at least make a dent in? So while LB napped, I worked on the bibliography of the chapter. I feel like making a bibliography is a mindless, albeit very necessary task. And today, by the time LB started calling for Mama after her nap, I had it nearly done!
And here's a picture of her post-nap lunch: cheddar cheese, avocado, carrot slices, and a baked yam with a puree of kidney beans, onions, corn, and zucchini. This last item is a less spicy version of a dish that has made it into the Lovejoy Fordham dinner rotation: spicy beans on baked sweet potato or yams. I cook up the beans for scratch, so it takes a while to make, but it is super delicious with some sour cream. And even though LB had this yummy smorgasbord for lunch, she still kept pointing to the cupboard, clearly wondering if she could have a puff. Unfortunately for her, I was giving her lunch, not Grandma, and so no puffs were produced.
Great lunch! Kendra refused to eat puffs as soon as she started other finger foods. Ollie still wants them. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe puffs are like candy to her (even though they have so little sugar!) We even put some in her plastic eggs at Easter!
