Day Seventy-Six: Just Another Day in Paradise

Today's title is from my lovely husband. Plenty of sarcasm came along with his suggestion, but actually we all had a fine Saturday, though LB and I both had a rocky start. She woke up with a runny nose, some red eyes, and a tired little face. I had a headache from tossing and turning all night worrying over my dissertation, which as Tom pointed out, did me no good.

I'm frustrated that I am not further along on it and that I'll be teaching again starting this summer, which will greatly reduce the amount of time I have to work on it. I am looking forward to going back to teaching, but I of course wish I did not have a dissertation hanging over me.

But as Tom has said time and time again to me, I can only do what I can do, and writing is anything but an easy job. As the sports journalist Red Smith famously said, "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Charming.

Anyway, enough whining. Lilybeth had her nap a bit early today and I went to school to attend a lecture, and after our respective activities we were both feeling much better. Tom brought her down to campus, and we went to lunch and then walked home. Perfect warm spring weather for walking a baby. G came in the afternoon, and Tom and I escaped for a Date Night. Funny movie. And I love Tina Fey.

All right, it is nearly midnight. I better get to bed because day seventy-seven is getting close to starting.
