Today Lilybeth re-enrolled at Gymboree, and I'm very glad we're taking her back because she had a fabulous time, as you can tell from the picture (and how adorable is that little name badge!?! I love it!) We had originally enrolled her at about 4 months, but she was just too young, and the class was at noon, which is right in the middle of her nap time and so the few times I took her she fussed for a good portion of the session. But now that she's 9 1/2 months and crawling, she can attend the class at 2 PM, which is after her nap and lunch, so she's in the perfect mood for a bit of play.
She was in absolute heaven exploring the gym, crawling through all the tunnels, riding the swing, bowling, and trying to steal toys from other babies. The only activity she did not enjoy was song time, when everyone sits in a circle and the babies lay on their backs and their mothers sing to them. Instead she fussed until I let her go, then crawled away, sat in the middle of the circle, and laughed and pointed at the other babies. I don't blame her for refusing to sit still. Seriously, no one wants to lay on their backs and listen to me sing.
She also had her first little "tiff." All the babies were sitting in the middle of the circle, watching the instructor play with a puppet. Lilybeth was sitting behind little Jaylene--a couple of very American names, I think. Lilybeth was trying to wiggle around to sit in front of her until Jaylene apparently had enough of it and reached out and grabbed a big handful of blond curls (not intentionally, of course. I'm sure that big mop of golden hair looks very tempting to a baby.) Miss LB let out a squeal, looked around until she saw Mama, and then came crawling back to me with this big frown and a couple of little tears starting to form in her eyes. I told her I was sorry she had her hair pulled, but she shouldn't be trying to boss her way in front of people. I'm sure the lesson was completely lost on her.
Next time I visit, I want to go to a Gymboree class with Lilybeth!!!
