Day Forty-Seven: Sunny Day, Sweepin' the Clouds Away

The weather was brilliant today, so I decided it was a good day for a longer walk down to the campus library (pictured above) to return a book--such exciting days I have. I am really loving this warm weather, though after a gorgeous Riverside spring always comes a Riverside summer which is by far the most miserable time of year here. In the summer, the temperature often gets over 100 degrees, and the air quality is dismal. With the end of my degree in sight, however, this will hopefully by our last summer in R'side.

But no reason to look ahead to summer quite yet, so here's a picture of the flower by our front door. Obviously, it's in bloom now, and I think it's a type of daisy, but I'm not sure. My mom gave a pot of them to me, and Tom and I actually managed to get them in the ground before it was too late.

This morning I woke up at 5 AM, actually an hour before LB started calling, because I've been determined lately to add a few extra-hours onto my day to write. I had been trying to stay up later, but my brain is really done for the day by nine, so I'm thinking early morning is the way to go. I loved the quiet hour this morning, and I've read that the brain is most alert in the morning after you wake up, so it seems like the perfect time to carve some time into the day. I'll try it again tomorrow, though I have to say, it's only 7 PM now and I'm really struggling to write this blog and concentrate. Maybe I just need to get used to a new schedule. Though doesn't the time change this weekend . . .

And finally, here's LB in the pink basket my mom gave her. She bought it so that LB could practice standing up by pulling herself up onto it while it's upside down. But it has wheels, and I think she sits in it and gets pushed around the house more often than not. At least I've been getting some exercise pushing it.
