Day Sixty-Five: The Professional

I was feeling very unprofessional this afternoon after I got off the phone with my dissertation chair. She called around 12:30, while LB and I were sitting together in the play area, and so I just thought I would talk to my professor there. LB is very interested in the phone these days, and she got excited when she saw me talking on it. She started chatting so loudly that my professor could here her. But she said it was cute, and we continued with our conversation.

LB got bored of watching me talk on the phone and started to exam my pedicure. She was poking away at my toes, and I ignored her while talking. Of course the next thing I knew, I felt this sharp pain in my big toe, I let out a big yelp, and I looked down to see that LB had decided to try a little sample because she had my toe in her mouth and was happily biting away at with her two little teeth. Of course, my professor wanted to know if everything was okay, and so I told her that my daughter had just bit my toe. We both laughed about it, but afterward I felt so unprofessional. I should have just left LB in her play area, which is all fenced off now, and gone in the other room. Or I could have put her in her crib. If she didn't like it, she could have complained to Woolly Cat and the Pink Bear.

You live and you learn, I suppose. But I do think I will send an email to my chair to apologize.
