Day 202: Green Thumb

I decided to make a garden at our new place. Just a little one--something for LB and me to poke at in the afternoons after her nap and lunch when we're tired of being cooped up inside. Fortunately, my mom is quite the gardener, and she gave us plenty of help today on this venture (actually, I think she did most of the work). So now we have a little plot at the front of our house featuring rosemary and marigolds (shown above), parsley (though Tom says it's not really parsley),
some golden Esperanza,
a little lemon tree in a pot,
a little avocado tree in a pot,
some oregano, and some cucumber.

In the photo below, my mom and I are hard at work. She's digging up the grass and I'm raking it away. I'm still in my pajamas (what better way to garden?)
Overall, it was a fun project, though unfortunately Miss Lilybeth was not feeling herself today, and she napped through all the dirty work (which she would have thoroughly enjoyed). Even this morning, when G and I took her to the nursery to pick out some plants and soil, she was completely uninterested. G and I thought she would be excited to see all the flowers and fruit trees, but she just sat apathetically in the cart, not pointing or babbling at anything. Eventually, she even started to doze off while going up and down the aisles. G and I were forced to guess at what kind of flowers, veggies, and herbs she wanted for her garden.

But we did save some marigolds and some little white flowers for her to plant tomorrow. Hopefully, she'll be feeling up to it.
