Day 199: Big Day . . . Again

Here's little bright eyes herself . . .

Her second trip to daycare went well, though it was a bit more bumpy than the first. The drop-off itself was fine. When we arrived, some of the little boys came running to the gate shouting, "Lilybeth is here! Lilybeth is here!" They were all wearing brightly colored capes and holding telescopes. One of them told me that they were dressed as "pirates" and that Lilybeth could play with them because they were going on a treasure hunt. It made my heart happy to see them! The kids swarmed around LB, so I set her on the floor again and backed out. She was none the wiser.

I kept myself busy today (the last day of the academy) and managed to make it through without calling Pam. When I dropped LB off this morning, there seemed to be more kids than on Tuesday, and I didn't want to bug her or Chrissy because it looked like they had their work cut out for them. So I didn't get the full report until 4:30 when I picked her up. When I arrived, she was sitting on the floor looking in a toy box with two other little toddlers. She didn't see me come in, so I said her name and she stood up, looking around and starting to cry. Poor little thing. Pam said that she didn't last as long this morning before she started missing Mama--just till 8:30. It seemed the novelty of the place had worn off, and she was less easily distracted. Pam and Chrissy also said that throughout the day she would just yell out, no tears or crying, just yelling for no apparent reason. I told them she didn't do that at home (she does yell sometimes, but she usually has a reason.) Pam thought that maybe it was because there were other kids around and she's not used to that--they might have been bugging her just by getting close to her or annoying her by looking at toys she thought were hers. No doubt she's a bit sensitive anyway considering the whole new experience. But I hope the yelling subsides as she gets used to Pam's house.

On the plus side, she did have a two-hour nap (though Pam didn't say how putting her down for that nap went). She also ate well again today, so at least her misery of being left by Mama and Papa doesn't affect her appetite.

And I'm looking forward to having a day with my little girl tomorrow.

And I've got to include a couple more pictures. Check out the hair. It's like a Dr. Seuss character's. She should be in How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
