Day Ninety-Nine: Arts & Crafts

We broke out LB's Easter finger paints today, and now Tom and I have our first piece of refrigerator art, of which we are both excessively proud. Tom says she ripped a hole in it and tore up the edges to make it more "postmodern." Quite the little artistic genius, this one.

Here are a few shots of her in action. Some body paint . . .
Mixing the paint requires a lot of concentration . . .
And trying to get Mama to shake her hand. Note the paint on the fridge in the background, plus the yellow paint in her hair and the dab of blue paint on her lips. She only tried to taste the paint (which is nontoxic) twice, but I stopped her both times, though obviously she made it to the lips once.
So tomorrow my little break/reward from turning in my 74-page second chapter is over, and it's on to the third for me. There are also other things lurking around to be done (i.e., an application and some emails to send before we're off to Australia on the 14th).

That second chapter was such a pain to write. One thing I'd like to change as I begin to work on this new chapter is that I want to continue to read even as I write. I think that was a mistake I made in writing the last one: I was so determined to finish it, that I just gave up reading altogether. Actually, the only things I really continued to read were the baby books! When really, I love to read (no surprise, right?), and also reading new publications in my fields is always inspiring for my own work. For some reason, I thought I just didn't have time to read anything, and so I just burnt myself out working on this chapter. Also, the chapters only need to be between 35-40 pages. The last one was just so long because I worked on it forever. Hopefully the next one will be much shorter and much quicker to write.
