Day 102: Our Best Love

Lilybeth Mary turned all of 11 months old today, and in honor of her birthday, I thought I'd set up this little photo shoot of her on the tatami mat with some bougainvillea flowers. It was a good concept, but none of the pictures came out very well. It was so bright out, she didn't want to open her eyes.
My sweet little possum also surprised me with an early Mother's Day present. While I was away at the library, she went to K-Mart and bought these pretty flowers (which are fake so I won't have to worry about watering them--so thoughtful!) and this little rabbit to put in the flowerbed outside our front door. I suspect G helped her with all this. But you never know. Papa and I think she is very clever.
What can I say about our little LB at 11 months? Tom and I just love her so so much. Everyday she makes us proud and happy. She has definitely taken over our world, but, the funny thing is, we don't mind. We very willingly and gladly gave our old world and our old lives away to her. We love all her little perfections and all her little flaws (which are obviously very few in our book). I really can't describe what complete joy she brings to us and so, instead, I'll turn to the great modernist poet e.e. cummings and a stanza from his piece "i carry your heart with me":

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
