Day Ten: Working Mama

So it seems I did write my page today, actually I wrote a page and a half! Overall, I felt quite productive. Lilybeth had two naps, one from 9 AM - 10 AM and another from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM, and I worked on my dissertation then (see above photo). My mom came to babysit at 3:30, so I headed off to my favorite local coffee shop, Coffee Roasters, where I worked on my CV. Tonight I need to finish editing the CV and send out an email.

Lilybeth has had a short morning nap and a longer afternoon nap now for two days. She's still only waking up once during the night. Could it be that her sleeping schedule was just working itself out and hence last week's craziness? I'm knocking on wood hoping this new schedule will continue.

It was great having my mom come by today. It's so wonderful that she lives near. She usually comes up twice a week after work to babysit and then often stays a night over the weekend so Tom and I can get out. And she also likes to get up at 5:30 or 6 with the little possum, so Tom and I also get to sleep in when Grandma visits. Lilybeth absolutely loves her "G" (as Grandma is known) because G, who raised up six babies herself, knows how to make everything just right. She knows exactly how to arrange the toys to Lilybeth's liking. She can tell if Lilybeth wants to read a book or if she wants to look at her flashcards, if she wants to be carried around or sit quietly in one place, and G can tell if she wants a big bottle of milk or only a little "sipper" (to use G's word).

Today, when I got back from the coffee shop, I was very happy to find Lilybeth was bathed and pajama-ed and all ready for bed (Thank you, Mom!) Here she is being proudly displayed by G. Check out how high the pj bottoms are pulled up.
