The MacBook and I started off the day together in bed, where I got a quick half hour of writing in before Tom headed off to work. I love how in this picture you can see the hodge-podge of blankets that represent our various bed migrations through the night. As we have the place set up now, we have a guest bed in one room and our bed and LB's crib in another. We put LB into her crib for the first part of the night, and Tom and I usually sleep in the guest bed (unless there is a guest sleeping in it) so that we don't wake her up when we go to bed at 10 or 11. When she wakes up for a feed, I usually move into our bed with her and sometimes, like today, Tom comes in with us. In the picture, I can make out one of her blankets and a pillow from the guest bed. This morning the air was so chilly that it was a perfect morning for snuggling down in bed at 4 AM with my two favorite people in the world. I felt absolutely content.

And, in the early afternoon, while LB was having a nap, I got about two more hours of writing in on the couch. Which of course made me feel productive and happy.

Finally, LB played a computer game this afternoon. The poor computer always takes a beating when she gets on. Here, she's playing Wake up Sammy. When any button is pressed on the keyboard--or in LB's case, when she mashes down a whole group of keys--the little green monkey Sammy blinks or jumps or gets a banana or does any number of things. LB loves this game; she talks to Sammy and pats at the screen to touch him. The game can be found at kneebouncers.com (in case you want to play yourself). The other game LB likes on this site is the color game: press or mash any key(s) and up comes a balloon with its color written on it and a sweet little girl's voice says the name of the color.
