Day 298: First Haircut

After a couple of very busy weeks and weekends, we decided we needed a little family time, and so Tom took today off work. We had a long walk this morning, followed by a play in the park. And when LB woke up from her afternoon nap, the Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance went out for a late lunch at our favorite sandwich shop, Jammin' Bread.

It's such a cute little shop. I'm definitely going to miss it whenever we leave Riverside.
And after lunch, it was haircut time. Tom decided not to join us; he had a feeling that LB would be throwing a big tanty, and he didn't want to witness it. Actually, it wasn't that bad. She did have a few squawks, some squeals, and of course a couple of tears. But she stayed in the seat the whole time. She didn't demand to be picked up, as I thought she would. Maybe she knew it was for her own good. The haircut probably lasted longer than most because the poor hairstylist had to comb out so many little knots.
But this lollipop helped pacify Miss LB.

Although she did not like the blow dryer one bit.
The end result. Checkout the sticky face.
As Tom said, "I didn't think it was possible for Lilybeth to get any cuter, and yet, now she has."

I saved a little curl for her keepsake's box.
This evening, Tom also wrestled LB into her new winter coat. We've been wanting to try it on for the last couple of weeks, but every time we've tried, LB would vigorously shake her little head and toddle off. Since we'll soon be in snowy Washington, we were running out of time. The coat is a little big, but it will do, although I'm not looking forward to getting her into it again when we're actually in WA. She is not too happy with it.

  1. Love the new do!!! I looks like it's actually made it curlier at the back and the little fringe is so cute. I know your pain on the jackets...we had the same problem with Soph this winter. It would be freezigng (well Brisbane freezing standard of course), her little arms cold and she'd still be fighting it off. Good luck with that one...bribes or threats might be the answer -the no tv, no muffins, no stickers etc is working very well on the discipline side for us.
