As predicted, it was absolutely, miserably, stinky hot in R-side today. We spent most of our day inside, except for an early morning visit to a daycare (it was so-so; we're keeping it on the list as a last option) and the grocery store. Later in the day, at about 5 PM, LB and I had a little splash in her wading pool. Obviously the spatula makes a great pool toy. When we came back in, I cooked her up some "Days Out Cakes," a recipe from the organic baby food cookbook.

I know, I know, spending time in the hot kitchen over the stove is not the way to cool down, but I always have to be busy and so I found something to do. But this recipe was super easy: some plain yogurt, whole wheat flour, cornmeal, and an egg. And fry them up with a little olive oil. LB sat in her basket, reading her books while I cooked them up and afterwards we went to the park.

It got cooler this afternoon because a storm was coming in, though we only got a little drizzle. LB had a fun visit with her friends at the park, and then we came back for dinner where she ate about three Days Out Cakes: one spread with cream cheese, one with butternut squash puree, and another with prune puree.
