Older & Wiser

Saturday, April 30th marked a couple of milestones for the Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance: Tom celebrated his 34th birthday and I attended my 10-year reunion at Scripps College. We were definitely feeling older but at least we had fun celebrating.

On Friday evening, G, LB, and I helped Tom with an early b-day celebration including pressies and cake. I gave Tom another bottle of scotch to add to his collection. Check out the snazzy bottle:
And we had an ice cream cake, Tom's favorite:
To say that LB was excited when she saw the cake would be an understatement. She started frantically pointing at it, making the sign for "eat," and saying "eat." She wasn't upset, but she actually started to turn red! It soon became very clear that if she didn't receive a piece of cake, she would explode.

How was it, LB? Everything you hoped?
Cake daze . . .
On Saturday, LB and I caught up with some friends at the reunion: Pavi, Anita, Kate, Cheryl, Susan, Julianna, Moorea, and Hope.
The Scripps doctors. I'm looking forward to joining their ranks!
Of course, we also brought along our gorgeous kiddies. Here's TeAra and Heikura, the little Hawaiian beauties.
And making his first appearance on this blog, the one and only Kimbo prince, Kenzo. Check out those chubbah, chubbah arms. He's SO cute!
A peaceful and drooling Heikura.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a shot of Hope's beautiful Miss A. I'm hoping she'll attend LB's birthday, and so I'll remedy that problem then.

I loved being back on campus and visiting with my friends. I'm afraid it will occur even less frequently once we move up to Washington. I had been worried about taking a day off to attend the reunion, but I'm glad I did. I felt so relaxed and happy seeing everyone.

And here are some more highlights from the day . . .

Lilybeth had such fun playing with Auntie Kate, who's a pediatrician.
Sexy Dr. Neeter!
You can't go to Scripps without enjoying the gorgeous lawn and having a picnic.
The Humanities Building where I had many of my English courses.
LB playing in a fountain.
One classic Scripps's tradition: every graduating class gets to paint a mural in the rose garden, which every senior signs. Since my graduation year, 2001, also marked the 75th anniversary of Scripps's founding, our class theme was "75 Years of Women on Top." I love the murals; I wish I had taken photos of some of the older ones.

Here I am! Here I am!
A visit to Scripps's secret garden, the Margaret Fowler Garden.
LB in the garden.
In the evening, Tom and I attended the reunion dinner while LB stayed with Grandma. At the dinner, we ran into Van, a woman I used to be very close to but have sort of fallen out of touch with over the last few years. I was very happy to see her and very happily surprised to meet her little daughter, Zoe! I'm standing next to them in the photo below.
And one final shot of me, Che-Che, and a sleeping Kenzo-kun.
