Easter Eve

I'm looking forward to going to my parents' tomorrow, retrieving my LB, and celebrating Easter with the family. Today, the Easter Bunny paid a little visit to our place and filled up LB's basket.

She'll be getting the obligatory Peeps, bubbles, cheap plastic toy,
and lots of books:

a couple of brand-new, nice-and-shiny ones
but mostly a hefty stack from our local used bookstore.
While I was digging through the bins of used kids' books, I found this Maisy's book. LB's little cousin, S0-So, likes these books, and I remember reading them to the girls when we were visiting Australia. I think the pool theme is appropriate for the upcoming summer season.
I also found this little prize, which I find a bit creepy. When I showed it to Tom, he kind of shivered and looked away.
They're some strange human-canine hybrid who run a farm. LB likes seeing pups do just about anything, so I think this book will be a hit with her.
I spent most of the day working on my dissertation. I did a little research, which is always more satisfying than writing. When I'm researching, I feel like I actually finish something. Read an article? Read a book chapter? Find an interesting quote for the diss chapter I'm working on? Check. Check. Check. When I'm writing, I feel like I'm just throwing more and more words into the big void of my hungry and insatiable dissertation, and that nothing ever gets done. As I continue to work on this thing, time seems to be going backward. Will it ever be turned in?

Fortunately, tonight, I had a scheduled date with my honey. So he dolled himself up and put on some cologne. Actually, he used up the last little drop of this blue bottle of cologne that he purchased for himself when he was sixteen.
Yes, that's right, he'd had that bottle for nearly twenty years. Tom doesn't break out the fancy smellin' eau de toilette for just any occasion.

We headed out to dinner at The Getaway, the little bar/eatery down the street from us.
The Getaway is not known for its healthy eating options, as you can probably tell by their selection of fries.
We didn't order fries, but what we did have probably wasn't much healthier.

At any rate, I hope everyone has a good Easter tomorrow-if it's your thing.
