As many of you might already know, I got a job offer today and I accepted said offer. So come this fall, I'll be a professor at Peninsula College and the Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance will be living in Port Angeles, WA! I'm super excited, as is Tom, as is Lilybeth (who, in reality, is probably excited because she is staying the weekend at G and Grandpa's house, as shown above). I loved Peninsula College. When I visited last month, I didn't want to get my hopes up, but I thought the school would be perfect for me: a small campus and English department, a gorgeous campus overlooking the water, warm faculty, and an easy tenure process. I'll be teaching three classes a quarter in the fall, winter, and spring (with the option of doing more for overtime), and I'll have the summers off (though again, I can take on courses for overtime). And Tom and I like the idea of being citizens of the Pacific Northwest and of living somewhere a bit more rural (but not Saginaw, Michigan rural). And I also love the idea of being off the job market and of having a job that won't be as demanding as all the work I've been doing in grad school. Exciting! Exciting!

YAYAY!! Welcome to the Pacific NW!! You'll love it here. And when you don't, you can always escape to sunnier climes to visit fam in SoCal and Oz!
ReplyDeleteYAYAY, indeed! I'm just looking at houses for rent in Port Angeles. It's all very exciting. You'll probably be gone though by the time the Alliance makes its touchdown in WA.
