The Day after Valentine's Day

I hope everyone out there felt well loved on V day. We didn't have a very exciting one. Tom got me the flowers on Saturday, and I gave my honey a new bottle of scotch for his collection. LB didn't realize that it was Valentine's Day, so she got nothing. A very expensive car repair put a damper on our celebrations. The Corolla needed a new catalytic converter, a repair that set us back about $1700. Whew! Of course while the new part was being installed, the mechanic discovered another problem--a leaking oil seal or some such thingy thing, an $860 repair. Zonks! The Corolla is getting old, and its health care bill is skyrocketing. The leak will have to wait.

LB spent her post-Valentine's day at Pam's House, where she finished making her Valentine's Day card for Mama and Papa. Pam said LB started it on Thursday, but needed more time to work on it. Perfection doesn't come easily. Gluing feathers to paper is tricky!
LB also brought this picture home. Today, the kids learned about "F," and so they made "free art" pictures. I love Lilybeth's free art.
After finishing up at the mechanics, I decided to plop down another $20 and so picked up dinner from our favorite sandwich shop, Jammin Bread. Mmmm . . . grilled eggplant with provolone on focaccia.
LB also enjoyed one of her favorite meals: Chicken soup with Elmo-shaped noodles. Here, Papa's helping her drink the broth.
And, finally, I got a call today. This time from Mesa Community College in Arizona, and they would like me to come in for an interview! Wow! Zonks! Unfortunately, the interview is very inconvenient. It's scheduled for 1 PM on 3/10, which is the Thursday of UCR's final week of classes. I teach Mon, Wed, and Fri this quarter, so I was thinking that I could fly out after class on Wednesday and fly back either Thursday night or Friday morning; I don't want to miss class during the last week. The school also doesn't pay for travel. Boooooo! I haven't decided yet whether or not I'll actually go. I'm going to decide once I hear back from Delta College and know more about its interview. If the Delta interview is more convenient and the school pays for travel, I'll just pass over Mesa and go to Michigan. Mesa wouldn't be so bad though. The school is near Phoenix, so we'd be near a major city (with an airport), but not directly in the city. It's relatively closer to the SoCal Lovejoys, and the pay is also comparable to the California schools, which is the reason I originally applied.

Okay, I better go grade, lesson plan, and get myself to bed. LB went to sleep early tonight so I have a feeling I'll be hearing some "Mama! Up! Mama! Up!" before the sun itself is up tomorrow morning.
