Lunar Fest

Downtown Riverside hosted a festival today in celebration of the Chinese New Year. It's the year of the rabbit, and you can see the proud representative above. Below is LB saying "Hi" to him.
Downtown was decorated very prettily with red lanterns.
But of course the best way to celebrate the Chinese New Year is with Japanese sumo wrestlers
and dancers. (This woman's kimono was gorgeous. The photo doesn't do it justice, but it was covered in gold, red, and green cranes.)
LB, however, was unconcerned with this strange and problematic conflation of people and cultures because she got a lollipop, making 1/29/11 one of her best days ever.
Lollipop! And it's all mine! MINE!
The festival also featured a magician for the kiddies,
and LB was mesmerized by his table-levitating skills.
Wonderful G also waited in line for an hour so that she could get LB a balloon animal, and this may very well be the greatest balloon animal ever: a monkey climbing a tree to retrieve some bananas.
Thank you, G, for taking such good care of Baby.
