When Tom and I went to the San Diego Zoo a few weeks ago, we ended up becoming members for the year (it just turned out to be cheaper that way). We thought we wouldn't use the membership passes again. But I'm done with my dissertation and summer school is over, so I thought, "Hey! Why not have another day at the zoo?!" Sure, there's packing to be done since we're leaving in a week, but that was all put on hold for yet another day while LB, Uncle Donald, and I headed down to San Diego.
We stopped by the flamingos first, and then it was off to the petting zoo. LB immediate claimed this goat as her own with an "It's mine. It's mine."

This other little girl came over to see the goat, and LB said, "It's my goat. It's my goat."

I guess the girl believed her.

When the goat decided it had had enough of belonging to Miss LB, it scampered away into it's little cave, and before we could catch her, LB crawled in after it. I'm sure this is completely unsanitary.

Saying "hi" to another goat with Uncle Donald.

Checking out the mini ponies.

The sea otters! We had this exhibit to ourselves, and LB ran back and forth squealing and laughing whenever an otter swam by the glass. It was really a precious moment.

Making a friend by the bunny hutch.

Saying "hi" to the macaw.

Hippos!

Orangutan!

Monkey! Actually, we all fell completely in love with this monkey. It ran over to LB and started hitting the glass in front of her. Then it squatted down and started pouring sand into it's mouth and using its saliva to make some mud. LB thought this was the greatest idea any one had every had in the history of the world, and so she was very impressed by the monkey. Then another monkey ran up, carrying a leafy branch which he waved at LB. LB squealed and laughed and ran behind Uncle Donald before returning to chat with her new friends. It was awesome seeing her interact with the monkeys!

Takin!

A sleepy girl and her toy tiger!
