Every Christmas, Tom and I select a new ornament to mark another holiday spent together. This is our ninth year (!), and this year's ornament is another WA-themed one (last year, we had a WA-ferry ornament). We selected this one because all of the Lovejoy-Fordhams love seeing the deer around town; they are so graceful and beautiful. This past spring, a doe--who must live nearby at the Olympic National Park--had twin fawns! I've seen the three of them grazing at the college and walking around town. They are so precious. The ornament reminded me of them, though I wish this mama had two babies, too.
Lilybeth helped to hang the ornament on the tree and when she was finished, she decided to inspect the presents, including this one from G.
The Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance has been doing a bit of redecorating this past week. We decided to get rid of our cable and move the TV from the living room into the little side office. We now stream shows via Hulu and are hoping to watch considerably less TV. So far, so good.
Here's a shot of the living room, sans TV.
Of course, we did need a little couch for the office so we had somewhere to sit and watch TV when we decided there was something worthy of watching (i.e., Downton Abbey). Tom and I poked around a couple of second-hand shops and discovered this awesome chaise lounge. The tag said it was from the 1920s and when I asked the store owner if that was true, he said it was definitely very old. It was only $245, so I feel skeptical about the 1920s part. However, it folds completely down into a bed, it looks like something Freud might have owned, and it is perfectly appropriate for watching Downton Abbey. I love it!
But of course the best thing in our home is always the brilliant little LB:
