Port Townsend is a great town about an hour south-east of Port Angeles. It's known for having a large artist and writing community; it also has some great parks and shops. Unfortunately, when we visited on Friday, it was a bit chilly for the park, but that didn't stop Miss LB from enjoying some outdoor time.
Nor did the cold weather stop her from enjoying a frozen treat at Elevated Ice Cream, a famous Olympic Peninsula ice creamery and candy shop. She had strawberry; I had maple walnut.
But the reason for our trip to Port Townsend was a lecture being given by one of my very favorite writers (and a major star in my dissertation): Dorothy Allison. I enjoyed meeting a writer whom I've studied so much, and Allison was so gracious (and brilliant)!
