Birthday Girl

On Saturday, I celebrated my 33rd birthday. I can't believe another year has already come and gone.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a big weekend birthday celebration for me. I spent all of Saturday at the office working on a conference paper, and I'm doing the same today, just taking a little break to update the blog. The conference is next weekend, and I hate writing a paper so last minute, but I've literally had no time to work on it before: At the end of August, I found out I would be presenting at the conference, but in August I was teaching and finishing up my dissertation. At the start of September we moved and I started working, and now here I am a week away from the conference with a sad paper pieced together and a stack of grading waiting for me to get started on tonight. No wonder I look so exhausted in the photo above! Turning 33 has only reminded me that being an adult is no fun!

But before I headed off to my office on Saturday morning, Tom and LB threw me a little birthday breakfast of homemade birthday cake.

Getting a birthday kiss from my big girl:
Lilybeth loves a birthday!

The cake is red velvet with cream cheese frosting and milk chocolate shavings. Yum! Well done, Fordham!
And when I got back in the evening, Tom lit our first fire and we ate Indian take-out in front of it on the couch.
LB got warm and cozy on the couch and said she was calling Auntie Heidi on my old, non-operational cell phone. I can already see what she'll be like at thirteen!
And despite my whinging, it was a good birthday!

The rest of these photos are from earlier in the week. On Friday night, Tom whipped up another little gourmet delight: homemade pumpkin and broccoli soup. Mmmmm, good stuff.
Even LB got into it.
And some pictures of Baby on the runway in her new winter coat.
