Snow Days!

We're apparently having some record snow fall here in Washington State, and school has now been cancelled for two days. I've been working from home (writing lectures and answering emails), and of course taking breaks to indulge in a little snow play. But I think if school is cancelled again tomorrow, I'll be suffering from some cabin fever. Lilybeth is absolutely in love with this weather, and it's hard to get her indoors even when she's clearly freezing.

Here's a little recap of our first Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance Snow Days.

Snow Day Breakfast #1: I was inspired to get out the frying pan and make us some French toast. Yum!

Yesterday, the snow was up to LB's knees. Today, it's even higher!
A bundled up Tom. This picture cracks me up. Look at little LB in the background making a snowball! I think it's going straight at Papa!
Trudging along . . .
A view from our front yard.
Tom's mom knitted him this ear muff to keep him warm this winter. Amazingly, it was delivered yesterday (the post office really does live up to its creed: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night . . ."). His mom used the same yarn that she used to knit me a scarf a few years ago. Now we have a matching ear muff and scarf set! Here's Tom modeling the pair:

Lilybeth wanted to get in on the modeling, too:

Finally, it was my turn. Lilybeth directed this photo. She told me where to put my arm and how to stand. Good artistic direction, kid!
She must have been inspired by this photo, because then she modeled for this little avant-garde piece:
Maybe the Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance already has a bit of cabin fever.

During her long hours indoors, Lilybeth also reacquainted herself with some toys, including her Minnie Mouse doll.
She set up this little corner for the pair of them to read together.
Look at those blond curlies!
Snow Day Breakfast #2: Cherries, toast, and goofing off.
And the white expanse outside our front door.

  1. Oh, I miss you all. I loved this post. Heee-larious and adorable. Miss LB is going to be quite the Pacific NW girl with all this weather. I actually had a dream last week that I was playing with LB and of course, loving it. I hope to visit you all this summer when the climate is more to my SoCal likin'! xoxo

  2. Thanks, Jung! We miss you too. Remember, you're always welcome at the Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance Homestead. I think LB is really taking to the Pacific NW--seems to be the right habitat for her!
