Snow Day #4

Snow Day #4. Another day stuck in doors. At least we made good use of our time and converted Miss LB's crib into a toddler bed. We'd put it off, waiting until she felt settled into her new room and home. Since we've been here about four months now, it was time to say bye-bye to the crib.

She was very excited and just so sweet helping Papa fix her "big girl bed."

When it was all done, she announced proudly, "I not a baby. I a big girl now." It was a bit bitter sweet for her parents.
She was very excited about the big girl bed, and I dug this blanket with matching pillow cases out of the cupboard to celebrate the occasion. Gramme made them for her, and this was the first time she ever used them.

Tom and I made a little wager about how many times she'd come wandering out of her room now that she is out of her crib and in the bed. I said twice. Tom guessed three times. And, actually, she never came out of her room, but Tom and I went into her room three times between us.

The first time Tom went in because we heard her sort of rustling about and figured that we had better go and check on her. But we saw her standing at her door, looking sorrowful, complaining that the blankets on her bed were messed up.

The next time I went in and she was sitting up in the bed crying, saying, "I a big girl now; I a big girl now." It was so pitiful and sad that I think my heart broke a little. Sometimes, growing up is no fun. I put the blanket back over her and rubbed her back and she talked about our family. She said, "My family have one papa, one mama, one big girl. Lilybeth a big girl." It was very sweet and touching.

After that Tom went in one more time, but he can't remember why now. She was sort of fussing about something, but not crying. And after that she fell asleep, our little big girl.
