Miss LB will be 2-years-old on Monday! I can hardly believe it! This afternoon while she was playing in the living room, Tom observed, "Now that's what I've always imagined a toddler would look like." Pushing around her little toy, wearing a droopy diaper, and sporting a mop of unkept hair. She's also wearing her red Elmo shirt that she picked out on her own from the dresser this morning. Our silly little girl was making lots of faces this evening at dinner. This first one is her "I'm- going-to-squish-the-sheep" face. She has two little plastic sheep that squirt water, and she plays with them in the bath. When I asked her at dinner what toys she was planning on playing with in the bath this evening, she said "Teapot!" "Any other toys, Lilybeth?" "Sheep! I squish!" And then she made this face. I have no idea whatsoever what the relationship between the face, the sheep, and the squishing is. I think there is only one little blonde girl who truly knows. But what I do know is that it is all very exciting!
Her serious face.
Her funny face.
"I'm happy!"
Another version of the "Sheep! I squish!" face.
And I want to give a shout out to my honey who last night washed and combed this wee toddler's hair. And she didn't cry! He did a gorgeous job. Fordham, you are truly amazing.
And I just realized that she's holding one of the sheep in the photo above. I wonder if it's about to be squished.
I also want to send out a big, big, big thank you tonight to my dear friend, Sheila, who took good care of me over the past weekend, cooking me gorgeous meals and generally spoiling me so that I could have lots of time to sit quietly and work on my dissertation. What a wonderful gift!
And on a side note, Miss Lilybeth said quite a big word this evening while we were all eating dinner. That's right, she said "dissertation." Oh. I hope the poor thing never actually has to write one herself.
Wow. That's one smart babe. She may not do a dissertation herself but she'll sure as heck know some impressive words for one by the time she is able to write one!
