Happy New Year, Seattle!

My 2013 is off to an absolutely gorgeous start. I have a brand-new niece, born on the 1st, to Tom's brother and his wife. Welcome to the world, beautiful Charlotte!

On top of that, Tom's sister Em, her husband Rob, and their daughter Sophie are visiting from Australia. You can see Lilybeth and her gorgeous cousin in the photo above. Spending time with family is a perfect way to start off a new year. We spent a few days in Seattle, where we rented a three-bedroom house in the Phinney Ridge suburb. Renting a house for a few days was Em's idea, and it was a brilliant one. I didn't even know it was possible to rent a house for a couple of days, but it was no more expensive than a hotel in the city, and it was so much more comfortable. Each couple had its own bedroom, while the girls shared one. On top of that, the living room was sporting a wood stove and was the perfect place for a few New Year's Eve drinks.
Also, the girls wore themselves out going up and down the stairs about a thousand times.
Here, Sophie helps Lilybeth open pressies from Australia. Thank you to Auntie Fran, Uncle Pete, Nannie, Poppie, Rob, Em, and Soph for all the beautiful gifts!
Aah, siblings . . . the rivalry never ends.
Playing a game from Auntie Em & Uncle Rob:
And playing games on the iPad:
On the 1st, we had a trip to Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo. Here, some beautiful girls wait for the bus:

And on the bus:
We love penguins!
And gorillas!
And lions!
The eagle's nest. It was huge!
And the girls having a little chat. I like this pic.
On the 2nd, we're off to PA to show the relatives our new hometown. Expect pictures!
