Mini Vacay!

Every year, Tom and I have a romantic little getaway to Shelter Island in San Diego. The view from this year's hotel room: yachts!

This year, since we're still member of the San Diego Zoo, we headed over to the zoo on Thursday evening, just as it was getting dark. At night, the zoo is very dimly lit, so as not to disturb the animals. It's also much less crowded, and it was a super romantic date, holding hands and trying to spy animals who were mostly settling in for the night (except for the nocturnal ones, who were just waking up).

And even though the weather was completely gorgeous in San Diego for the two days we were visiting, we decided to spend Friday indoors and have "Super Movie Day." Tom and I love going to the movies, but since moving to WA, we haven't had much of an opportunity. So, on Friday, we decided to see several movies and just spend the day at the theater. We saw The Adventures of TinTin, Sherlock Holmes, and Young Adult. Young Adult was my choice, so naturally, I think it was the best of the three. Charlize Theron is great, and the movie is a bit of a twist on the usual rom-com as the protagonist is so unlikable and as she doesn't seem to change through the course of the movie (nor does she seem to have any plans for growth). I got bored halfway through Sherlock Holmes; it didn't seem all that different than the first Sherlock Holmes (which I remember getting bored during as well). However, Jude Law was nice to look at and the film does star Noomi Rapace who is awesome as Lisbeth in the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Tom and I went for a walk along the water on Saturday morning before heading back to Victorville and back to G and Grandpa's house, and here are a few shots of us enjoying the sunshine and the 70-degree weather.

  1. I see that Fordham has grown a beard. That is the thing to do in the PacificNW for men. He must be settling in well to the local environs. (Oh and it looks like he's lost some weight!--good work!) Lovely to see you're catching up with fam and friends and sun in SoCal! XOXO

  2. I think Tom is out to get a job as a fisherman or as a lumberjack!

Hope you're enjoying the holidays, jungfu!
