Hello, 2014!

And no doubt, 2014 will bring plenty of moments to blog about.

While the Lovejoy-Fordham Alliance was waiting to ring in the new year, Tom taught LB how to photo-bomb (thus, the picture above). I think that photo-bombing was an appropriate way to end 2013, as I'm sure that photo-bomb made its way onto some word-of-the-year list for 2013.

The Alliance spent a quiet New Year's Eve at home, enjoying each others' company and some hot bowls of Japanese nabe or nabemono, which means things cooking in a pot. Here are all our nabemono: tofu, yellow and orange carrots, potatoes, shitake mushrooms, scallops, salmon, cod, cabbage, udon noodles, miso paste, and srirachi sauce (because we like it spicy!)
Margaritas, check. Fire, check. Nabemono cooking, check.
Yum!
LB practiced using chopsticks on her nabemono while Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper covered Times Square in the background.
She also waited for 2014 by curling up with a good book (my kind of girl!)
And then she photo-bombed Papa.
I hope that all my beloved friends and family have a wonderful 2014. Mines off to a busy start with winter quarter starting on the 2nd. I'm teaching a course overload this quarter (4 classes instead of the usual 3), but hopefully the extra income will help the Alliance reach a couple of 2014 goals as we continue to save for a house and plan a trip to Australia.

I hope that we all reach our goals, no matter how big or small.
