More Trippin' along the Road

After our stay in the B&B with the doll, Tom and I headed south from Brookings, OR, to Santa Rosa, CA, home of some of our favorite people, Mike and Sheila. Above is a shot of the drive out from Brookings.

We enjoyed a home-cooked meal with our friends and before departing, Sheila took us to a one of her favorite places in the area: The Sitting Room. The Sitting Room is a fabulous little community library founded by J.J., a former English professor and lover of women's literature and writing. She's such a lover of women's writing, that she turned her house into a library dedicated to it. All the books are by women (except for a few select selections by men).

Below, I'm with Sheila in the poetry room. I'm holding up a 1965 copy of Sylvia Plath's Ariel. What a treasure!

After our tour of The Sitting Room, Tom and I made our way down south to Victorville, CA. Here's a typical shot from our drive:

A typical Victorville scene:
Tom and I spent one night in Victorville before heading out for one last little vacation treat: A night at the historical Mission Inn in Riverside.

Here's a shot from our room's balcony:
It's hard to tell, but the building across has a rainbow flag hanging over the balcony to celebrate the Supreme Court's historical 6/26 ruling on same-sex marriage. Go, SCOTUS!
